Day 1 of rehearsals is in the books! Philip has returned to Montreal to sing Abimelech in what will surely be a groundbreaking, revolutionary production of Saint-Saens' grand opera, Samson et Dalila. The nearly-all-Canadian cast features Endrik Wottrich and Marie-Nicole Lemieux in the title roles, and is rounded out with Gregory Dahl, Alain Coulombe, Aaron Sheppard, Christopher Dunham, and Pasquale D'Alessio. Directed by Alain Gauthier and conducted by Jean-Marie Zetouni.

Philip is thrilled to announce his debut with the Ottawa Choral Society! On February 21, 2015 Philip will join fellow OCS New Discoveries winners and conductor Jordan DeSouza in a concert featuring the music of Gilbert & Sullivan!

Philip is thrilled to announce a return to the Opéra de Montréal in January 2015 to sing Abimélech in Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saens. The cast includes Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Endrich Wottrich, and Gregory Dahl. Jean-Marie Zeitouni will conduct and Alain Gauthier will direct. This production will mark Philip's seventh performance at L'OdeM, and his first since the Prix Opus-winning Dead Man Walking.

Philip will make his European debut at the Printemps musical de Silly in Belgium on May 4th!

Big news from Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques 2013! Philip was named the recipient of the inaugural Prix Banque TD Jeune Espoir Lyrique, a $2500 bursary to support professional training and development. Philip was also promised future engagements at Vancouver Opera and Festival Opera St. Eustache! More news to come as soon as more details emerge! Stay tuned!
The prizes and engagements are the result of 4 days of concerts presented by the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques where Canadian and foreign singers performed for audiences and representatives from opera houses and companies in Europe, Asia, and Canada. This was Philip's fourth representation as a laureate of JAL.
Barihunks is also reveling in the success: FIVE Barihunks at the "Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques"
As a result of his Quebec-Bavaria 2012 prize, Philip will spend 10 days In Munich training alongside the Junge Ensemble of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich! His stage lasts from November 13-22. Details and updates to come!
Philip is busy preparing for 4 concerts in November with Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques and a welcome return to Montreal! Visit the Schedule page for dates and details. Through JAL Philip has been named the recipient of several prizes and bursaries including the Prix Lyrique Giuseppe Verdi-Raoul Blouin, the Quebec-Bavaria Prize, and the Prix Lyrique Allemand. This will be his fourth representation at JAL.
Philip is thrilled to announce that he will return to Tel Aviv this summer to take part in the International Vocal Arts Institute's summer training program. Philip will sing L'horloge comtoise and Le chat in a production of L'enfant et les sortileges directed by Joshua Major and conducted by Paul Nadler. Philip has also been invited to the Canadian Arts Vocal Institute in Montreal, where he will reprise those two roles in the same production.
Philip is very excited to announce that he has been named to the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques for the fourth time! He has been invited to the gala performance in Montreal in November of 2013, where he and the other laureates will perform for a panel of European directors.

The soprano Ellen Wieser, Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques 2013 laureate, will be invited to perform at the International Sori Festival near Seoul in South Korea from September 28th to October 6th, 2013 with a fee of $ 2000 to sing one aria during the festival and participate in the creation of a work of 15 minutes from a South Korean composer (transport, hôtel and per diem paid by the festival)
Two Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques 2012, will also be on tour in China in June 2013, Arianna Sovernigo and Rachel Pelletier Tremblay.

The Jeunesses Musicales Canada Spring Tour of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte begins tonight in Montreal! Philip plays Guglielmo in this Alain-Gauthier directed production that will be touring throughout Ontario and Western Quebec.

Rehearsal are underway for the Québec premiere of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking presented by l'Opéra de Montréal! Philip plays the Motor Cop in an all-star and all-Canadian cast featuring Allyson McHardy, Étienne Dupuis, and Kimberly Barber.
It's opening night for Berlioz's L'enfance du Christ in Montréal with L'orchestre symphonique de Montréal! The presentation features Michèle Losier, Tyler Duncan, Gino Quilico, Pascal Charbonneau, Alexandre Sylvestre, Philip Kalmanovitch, and Isaiah Bell. Conducted by Kent Nagano.
